FHSU women finish second in Colorado

LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Buoyed by a strong Day 2, the Fort Hays State University women's golf team finished second Tuesday at the Regis Invitational.
The Tigers were in fifth after the first round, 15 strokes back of Minot State for second, but beat Minot State by 22 strokes in the second round to place second.
FHSU shot 349 on Monday and 329 Tuesday.
Sophomore Samantha Hobson, a graduate of Hays High School, led the way for the Tigers, placing second with a 159. She carded a 75 on Tuesday.
Senior Carmen Thompson finished 10th with a 167, and freshman Megan DeWerff tied for 12th with a 169.
Freshmen Kaycee Beilman and Natalie Bethel, also graduates of Hays High, placed 21st and 27th with totals of 186 and 193, respectively.
