FHSU volleyball falls to Emporia State

EMPORIA -- The Fort Hays State University volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-18) on the road at Emporia State University on Tuesday night.

The Tigers dropped to 23-12, 7-9 MIAA with one regular season match left, a Saturday home contest versus University of Central Missouri. Emporia State moved to 18-10, 8-7 MIAA.

Fort Hays hit. 115 as a team, while Emporia State hit .315. Paige Vanderpool and Courtney Haring paced the Hornets with 14 kills. Sophomore right side Taylor Mares led FHSU with seven kills and a .389 hitting percentage. Three starters - junior middle hitter Jenna Ulrich, sophomore middle hitter Kylee Hoagland and junior libero Makenzie Weinman -- struggled statistically. Ulrich, the team leader in kills, hitting percentage and blocks, had five kills, one block and a .125 hitting percentage. Hoagland hit .000 with five blocks, and Weinman collected six digs.
