Last chance for EMS/nursing credit seminar

HaysMed's Education Department, together with the Ellis County EMS, will host the final Ellis County EMS seminar of the year Oct. 26 and 27. The program will be at the Hadley Rooms, Hays Medical Center, 2220 Canterbury. Registration for Oct. 26 begins at 7:30 a.m., with the program running 8:30 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. Registration for Oct. 27 will be at 8 a.m. with the program running 8:30 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.
Speakers for the program include Phyllis Burdge, MS, Chaplin; Darlene Whitlock, RN, APRN, MA, CEN, CPEN, EMT; Mitch Helfferich, RN, MICT; Scott Reese, NREMT-P Instructor ECEMS; Kim Nutting, RN, BSN, CMIT.CFRN; Steve Sutton, KS Board of EMS; David Fitzhugh, PhD, EMT-I; Lillian Slater, RN, MSN, NREMPT-P; Jessica Albers, RN, MSFS: Jason Fawver, RN, BSN, MICT; Carol Groen, RN, MSN; Cammie Townley, RN, BSN and Dawn Gable.
Topics to be addressed during the program include self worth; current treatment interventions for specific illnesses and injuries; triage in relation to the prehospial environment; trauma during pregnancy; Kansas EMS update; spinal injuries and immobilization; patient assessment; and review of local resources.
This program is designed for RNs, LPNs, all EMTs, Paramedics, First Responders and Other Healthcare Professionals. This course is approved for 14.0 contact hours (seven hours on each day) for all EMS recertification and nursing relicensure.
The fees for this program are $20 for a one day session and $30 for both days. If you want nursing CE there is an additional $10 fee. Registration is due Oct. 24.
