Daycare owner faces January trial in Kan. DUI case

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- A Wichita daycare owner accused of drunken driving while taking children on a field trip will face trial in January.
Forty-nine-year-old Margaret Self of Derby is charged with DUI, child endangerment and driving with a suspended license. On Wednesday, she was given a Jan. 19 trial date in Wichita Municipal Court.
Self owned the Creative Connections Learning Center daycare. Staff members called police in October suspecting Self was intoxicated when she drove away on a field trip with several.
State health officials suspended the daycare's license.
