Cocaine baggies left around Yates Center

YATES CENTER, Kan. (AP) -- Law enforcement officers are trying to determine why more than six small baggies containing cocaine have been found on Yates Center city streets in the last week.

Yates Center Police Chief Lyle D. Kee said Monday that police tests have found that all six baggies contained cocaine.

The most recent baggie was found Monday in the Woodson County town of about 1,600 people, about 80 miles south of Topeka.

Kee says two law enforcement officers appear to be targets because packets have been found in front of their homes.

Yates Center police, the Woodson County Sheriff's Office and Kansas Bureau of Investigation are investigating.
