Lack of respect

I am writing in regard to the lack of Victoria Knights football coverage. My submission is as follows:

You should be ashamed of yourselves! Neither La Crosse in Rush County nor Smith Center, in Smith County nor anyone else in any other county, should take precedence over Victoria, here in Ellis County as "local" sports.

Now don't get me wrong, what the Redmen are doing is very noteworthy. Congrats to them, and I hope they win their last game and state again. But since they are not even in this county, they should not be the lead story for local sports. Victoria is local sports guys. The Knights nail-biting game was not even covered by any of the HDN staff. You had to pick up the story from Garden City. Garden City, apparently, has more respect than HDN, because they actually covered the game. That, guys, is sad. Even KWCH, I believe it was, sent out a man and camera to cover the regional game, and it was on the late news at the end of the sports segment.

It makes sense that Wichita would put Victoria at the end of their sports segment, but not HDN.

I, as a citizen of Victoria, and a business owner, was very upset to see the lack of care the HDN has shown for the Knights. I can only imagine how the players, coaches and their families must feel with this tremendous insult. I realize Newton is far away, so there won't be any coverage again for the Knights, but could you at least be bothered to put a teaser on the front page, and Victoria's story on the front of the sports page, no matter the outcome, though we all hope it to be a good one? Don't put the Redmen in front of Victoria, as the Knights are the local big news in sports.

The Smith Center Redmen are a great team and deserve recognition in the newspapers, but not at the expense of your local, and also great, Victoria Knights. Show them some respect too.
