Area athletes named to KVA all-state team

Four area volleyball players netted first-team all-state honors in their respective classifications by the Kansas Volleyball Association released Monday.
Hoxie junior Kristina Farber, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter, was a first-team selection in Class 1A Division I, while Weskan junior Kelsey Hale, 6-1 middle blocker/outside hitter, and Grainfield-Wheatland/Grinnell senior Brooke Ostmeyer, 5-7 setter, were first-team selections in Class 1A Division II. Hill City senior Shelby Stewart, 5-1 libero, was a first-team selection in Class 2A.
Second-team selections included Grainfield-Wheatland/Grinnell junior outside hitter Tristan Rathgeber and Weskan sophomore outside hitter/middle blocker Robyn See in Class 1A Division II and Smith Center senior setter/outside hitter Sydney Benoit in Class 2A.
Honorable mention selections included Hoxie sophomore setter/outside hitter Carly Heim in Class 1A Division I; Natoma senior outside hitter Danica Casey, Grainfield-Wheatland/Grinnell junior middle blocker Paige Ramey, Triplains-Brewster sophomore outside hitter Shayna Rogge and Weskan senior setter Shelley Wamsley in Class 1A Division II; and Phillipsburg junior middle blocker/setter Mattison Dusin in Class 3A.
