Inmate loose after Osborne Co. jail escape

WICHITA -- A Sedgwick County inmate housed in the Osborne County Jail in a contract housing arrangement still is at large after escaping Sunday from a fenced exercise yard.

Joseph Mosier, 25, broke out before 10 p.m. Sunday and stole a truck, which was found Monday in Augusta.

"He was last seen about 3 p.m. (Monday) in Augusta," Sedgwick County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Holtz said.

He now might be driving a dark-blue, 1996 Ford Thunderbird with Kansas license plate 943 CVZ. That vehicle was reported stolen a few blocks from where the Osborne County truck was recovered.

"We don't know for sure it was him who stole the car," Holtz said.

Mosier is white, about 5 feet, 10 inches, 150 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes. He was being held on charges of burglary, criminal damage to property, attempted theft and parole violations.
