Power restored on west side of Hays

There were simultaneous power outages in the western part of the city of Hays on Wednesday morning, affecting approximately 450 accounts with Midwest Energy.

Midwest Energy spokesperson Mike Morley said this morning areas affected were west of Hall street, bounded by 27th and 33rd; west of O'Loughlin Elementary School; and a few blocks downtown.

Morley said power was lost at approximately 8:55 a.m. Crews found a failed switch on a pole along the U.S. Highway 183 Bypass, which they replaced.

Power was restored to all customers by 10:30 a.m.
