Police chief elevated to city manager

The task of taking the Russell City Council's directives and putting them into place now will fall to newly hired City Manager Jon Quinday, the city's former police chief who had been serving as interim city manager.

Quinday was named Russell police chief in July 2009, a position he has held until he was named interim city manager in September.

It wasn't long after he was appointed to the position that Quinday submitted his application for the position. He was hired by the council at Tuesday's meeting.

"I think we're going to do good with Jon," Russell City Councilman Chuck Bean said. "He's got a lot of fire in his belly, so I think he's going to do a good job."
