TMP baseball splits with Colby

COLBY -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian baseball team ended its regular season by splitting its doubleheader Thursday at Colby.
The Monarchs lost 10-9 in Game 1 and won 13-10 in Game 2.
TMP (14-6) allowed two runs in the bottom of the seventh thanks to two errors to lose the first game. TMP finished with five total errors in the contest.
Kameron Schmidt started the contest and lasted four innings. He surrendered seven runs, five earned, off five hits and five walks while striking out seven.
Liam Stults (0-2) relieved him and pitched 2.2 innings, giving up three runs, none earned, off four hits and four walks while striking out four.
TMP collected just six hits but drew nine walks, and third baseman Braiden Werth was the lone Monarch to have multiple hits, going 2 of 3 with three RBIs.
In Game 2, Colby was the one struggling with errors, committing seven to TMP's two.
The Monarchs got their bats going and hit 13 of 35. Werth, Shane Zimmerman, Ryan Schippers, Jordan Gottschalk and Schmidt each had two hits.
TMP used three pitchers in the contest: Schippers, Cameron Brin and Zimmerman, but Brin (5-1) received the victory, pitching the third and fourth innings. Brin allowed an earned run off two hits and a walk.
