All-MCAA baseball team released

Five Thomas More Prep-Marian players were named to the Mid-Central Activities Association all-league baseball team and another earned honorable mention.
TMP senior Shane Zimmerman, junior Cameron Brin, junior Jordan Gottschalk, sophomore Ryan Schippers and sophomore Braiden Werth made the all-MCAA team while sophomore Kameron Schmidt earned honorable mention.
Zimmerman and Brin made it on the squad as pitchers.
Zimmerman (4-4) posted a miniscule 1.54 earned-run average and 1.16 walks-hits per innings pitched. He also struck out 60 batters -- 8.4 strikeouts per seven innings -- and walked just 3.4 batters per seven innings. Offensively, Zimmerman hit .278, tied for the team lead with 22 runs scored and stole a team-high 20 bases.
Brin (5-1) finished with a 3.20 ERA and 1.71 WHIP, and he struggled offensively, hitting .161, but stole 10 bags, tying for second best on the team.
Gottschalk made the squad as a catcher. He hit .342 and led the squad with seven doubles and 17 RBIs.
Schippers qualified as a first baseman, and Werth was named to the team at third base.
Schippers hit .386 with 17 RBIs, and Werth had a monster season, batting .400 with a .514 slugging percentage.
Werth also led the squad with 28 hits, 24 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
Schmidt hit .239, stole 10 bases and finished with a 3-1 record on the mound, 3.50 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 35 strikeouts (7.7 per seven innings).
