RUSSELL -- With the help of a strong tail wind, Thomas More Prep-Marian track and field athletes broke and tied a pair of school records Friday at the Russell Relays.
TMP senior Rodney Deus cranked out a 10.64-second 100-meter dash, winning the race by 0.17 seconds. It broke his own school record.
He also won the 200-meter dash in 22.77 seconds.
Fellow senior Megan Gottschalk tied the school record in the pole vault with a mark of 10 feet, matching the same mark set by Emilie Taylor in 2011. Though she tied the record, she placed only fourth against a stacked field.
Both TMP squads took third in the standings. The girls were third with 90 points, while boys were third with 69.
Beloit and Concorida were first and second on the girls' half with 146 and 113, respectively, and Beloit and Phillipsburg finished 1-2 on the boys' side with 147 and 117 points, respectively.
Individually on the boys' half, TMP sophomore Sam Dreiling and senior Zach Dreiling placed second and third in the boys' pole vault, each vaulting 12-6.
