NCRA sprints return to 81 Speedway

Special to The Hays Daily News

The second race of the season for the traveling teams with the NCRA 360 Sprint Car Series marks a return to the season opener back on March 30th.

For the second time this season, the "Thunder and Lightening" boys will roar into 81 Speedway, Park City, Ks, for a scheduled stand-off this Saturday night (April 27).

One interesting note heading into Saturday night will be who comes out as the series point leader.

After the Mach 30th show, seven of the top ten drivers do not compete with the series on a regular basis. Regulars Mike Peters and Jeremy Campbell, both of Wichita, roll into the second race of the season sitting in the top ten of the point standings, 4th and 7th place respectably. Defending series champion CJ Johnson, of Quinter, Ks, enters the contest in 18th place after one event.

Don Droud Jr, of Lincoln, Neb. who sits in the 1X Sprint Car owned by the Och Brothers of Western Kansas, is second in the series point standings, but Droud has been hit and miss with the series over the past few seasons. The race Saturday night will be a good chance for the regular teams with the series to establish themselves as contenders for the rest of the season.
