ASCS SOD series heads to Ohio

TULSA, Okla. (May 18, 2009) - The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP contests its longest consecutive streak of racing during the 2009 season this weekend featuring three nights of racing in Ohio. The ASCS SOD series Engine Pro sponsored counterparts, the National Racing Alliance Sprint Invaders, will race head to head during three day Memorial Day extravaganza in the Buckeye State.

Friday night the ASCS SOD series will hope the third try is the charm to complete the series first event at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio since 2004. Mother Nature has interrupted the past two visits to Limaland. J.R. Stewart is riding a two race winning streak at Limaland's high banked º-mile oval and the aforementioned ASCS SOD event in 2004.

Saturday marks the first appearance for the ASCS SOD series at Waynesfield Motorsports Park in Waynesfield, Ohio. 2008 second place point finisher Ben Rutan looks to turn around his dismal luck during in the first two point races of the season. Rutan posted his best finish of the season, a close second place to Stewart, during a weekly program at Waynesfield earlier in the season.

On Sunday the weekend comes to close with the second appearance for the ASCS SOD series at the Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio. Last year the ASCS SOD series debuted at the Eldora with Darren Long taking the feature victory.

Dustin Daggett leads the series into the Ohio tour winning the first two feature events of the 2009 season. Defending 2008 ASCS SOD champion Brett Mann, former champion Dain Naida, and Tim Norman chase Daggett into Ohio looking for another title while Gregg Dalman, Ryan Grubaugh, Tim Champlin, and Robert Huisken all are in the top 10 in the point standings, looking for their first ASCS SOD championship.

The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is in its 30th season of competition. Twenty-two point paying races are on the calendar with three special non-point races making up the 25 event schedule contested throughout Michigan, Ohio, and into Canada.

The American Sprint Car Series, in its 18th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to nearly 100 different tracks throughout 25 states and Canada in 2009. Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
