ASCS

BAYTOWN, Texas (June 20, 2009) - Ray Allen Kulhanek captured his second American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region feature win of the season by taking the $3,000 winner's share in Saturday night's 25-lap main event at Houston Raceway Park.

Subbing for Greg Coleman in the Wells-powered No. 17c Triple-X entry, the 2005 series champion took the lead away from Michael Dupuy on the fifth round and led the rest of the way to post his ninth career ASCS Gulf South triumph.

While Kulhanek gridded the feature field in sixth, it was fouth-starter Dupuy gunning past front row starters Trey Robb and Scottie McDonald for the lead on the opening circuit.

Kulhanek was right on Dupuy's heels though and raced by for keeps on the fifth round. Dupuy kept the pressure on until a late caution gave Kulhanek all the open track he needed to roll into HRP's victory lane for the fourth time in ASCS Gulf South action.

Dupuy settled for runner-up honors, with Robb, Travis Rilat and McDonald rounding out the top five. Jerry Bell was sixth in front of Tommy Bryant, defending series champion Brandon Berryman and Greg Rilat. Aaron Reutzel extended his record streak of top-ten feature finishes in ASCS Gulf South feature action to eleven by completing the top ten.

Travis Rilat, Kulhanek and Berryman topped heat race action, with Eric Baldaccini winning the "B" Main. Filling in aboard Todd Evans' No. 14e, Baldaccini climbed to 12th in the feature.
