Hockett tops ASCS Midwest at U.S. 36 Raceway

CAMERON, Mo. (June 19, 2009) - Jesse Hockett raced from seven rows deep to win Friday night's American Sprint Car Series Midwest Region 25-lap Budweiser Sprint Car Shootout at U.S. 36 Raceway.

"The Rocket" took the lead away from early leader Brian Brown on the 12th round and never looked back en route to his second ASCS Midwest triumph atop the lightning-fast, high-banked U.S. 36 clay oval.

Hockett took the checkered flag in the VKCC Motorsports/Tom Buch No. 13 JEI in front of eleventh starter Chad Humston, with 17th-starter Mike Boston claiming the show position.

Brown crossed the stripe fourth, with Josh Fisher rounding out the top five. Jack Dover raced from 20th to sixth, with Lee Grosz, Don Droud, Jr., Trevor Grossenbacher and Jason Danley completing the top ten.

Brown, Jonathan Cornell, Chris Walker and Grossenbacher topped heat race action for the 34-car field, with Boston winning the "B" Main.
