ASCS

TULSA, Okla. (June 8, 2009) - It all started at Creek County Speedway way back in the day. Tuesday night, the American Sprint Car Series revisits its origins.

Located just southwest of Tulsa, Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, OK, is set to host the third round of the 17th Annual F&J Construction ASCS Speedweek featuring the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series presented by K&N Filters on Tuesday night, with racing action set to go green at 7:00 p.m.

The º-mile Creek County Speedway clay oval was the site of the initial ASCS events in 1992 and also hosted the inaugural ASCS Speedweek event in 1993. Now, the track that features non-stop action is ready for its 12th Speedweek event.

Tuesday will also mark the third leg of the inaugural Lucas Oil ASCS2 Micro Sprint Speedweek.

In the ASCS ranks, Tim Crawley topped Friday night's 30-car field at Texarkana 67 Speedway with Tony Bruce, Jr., besting a 40-car field at Little Rock's I-30 Speedway on Saturday night.

Hailing from Liberal, KS, Bruce escaped the opening two nights of Speedweek competition with a two-point edge over 2004 Speedweek champ Crawley. Vying for a first championship of any kind, Bruce's fourth-place run at Texarkana gives him the edge thus far over Crawley, who rallied from twelve rows deep to finish fifth at I-30 Speedway.

Defending ASCS Speedweek champion Jason Johnson, who has topped two of the last three Speedweek events at Creek County Speedway, enters Tuesday's action just 12 points off of Bruce's pace as he takes aim at a third Speedweek crown.

Tulsa's Sean McClelland has posted a pair of top-ten feature runs to rank fourth in Speedweek points, with current Lucas Oil ASCS points leader Shane Stewart and I-30 Speedway regular Justin Sturch tied for fifth.

The balance of the current top ten in Speedweek points includes Travis Rilat, Paul McMahan, Kenneth Walker and Brady Bacon.

In the ASCS2 Micro Sprint Car ranks, Bixby, Oklahoma's Kevin Bayer shoots for a three-peat on Tuesday night after topping the opening two rounds at Texarkana and Little Rock.

A $10,000 ASCS Speedweek points fund is in place, with each individual night's feature winner pocketing $3,000.
