RPM Speedway once again will host a celebrity race to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ellis County.
This year's event is Friday, with races at RPM beginning at 7:30 p.m.
A total of 12 people will compete in two heats of six, with the top three finishers in each heat making it to a feature race in the charity event. Drivers will be piloting sport compact cars.
It is the fifth year the event has taken place, and in previous years, the drivers have competed in order to set the fastest time on the track with only one car on the track at a time.
Drivers competing include Kerry McCue, Ellis County EMS director; Bill Ring, Ellis County Emergency Management director; Ron Nelson and Alan Downing, Downing-Nelson Oil Co.; Dan Hess, Hess Services; John Hertel, Hertel Tank Service; Brian Minks, Crawford Supply of Rooks County; Greg Beougher, American AgCredit of Rooks County; Matt Cook and Paul Phillips, Russell County; Kevin Baalmann, KBK Industries of Rush Center; and Kirby Strutt, WW Drilling of WaKeeney.
Pit passes are $25, with general admission tickets at $10. Children 5 to 12 are $5, and those younger than 5 are free. Classes competing at RPM on Friday will be IMCA modifieds, stocks, Northern sport mods, hobby stocks and sport compacts.
