Minneapolis Raceway to host inaugural late model special

MINNEAPOLIS -- For the first time in its 4 year history the Minneapolis Raceway will host a special Late Model event on Saturday night September 19, 2009 in the season finale.
The MidwestDirt Late Model Series will sanction the 3/8 mile's first event, of which is a highly anticipated show. It will be the raceway's highest profile show to date with a good group of cars slated to converge on the track 15 minutes north of Salina on I-135.
Also in action on the night will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, and IMCA Sport Compacts. National, regional, and state points will be awarded in the next to last weekend of racing before the IMCA season ends.
The Late Model portion of the event will pay $1000 to the winner with $200 to start. The entry fee will be $25.
Chuck Comer of Joplin, Missouri has 2 feature wins with the series this year, both coming at the Caney Valley Speedway. Delbert "The Iceman" Smith also has 2 feature wins, both coming at the Elmwood Park Speedway. Ryan McAninch has 1 feature coming at Caney.
Admission prices for the night will be $15 for adults with kids $5. Pit passes will be $25.
A pre-race autograph session is also being planned for the kids in attendence.
