Norton wraps up 2009 season

NORTON, KS (September 19)--Elmwood Park Speedway in Norton, KS, wrapped up the 2009 racing season Saturday evening, September 19.

The IMCA Modified feature saw 'Maniac' Matt Fabrizius of Wakeeney pick up the win, trailed by hometown driver Rick Schwab. 'Lightning' John Fabrizius finished third, good enough to claim the track championship, with Gary Kline and Mitch Kline completing the top five. Heat race winners were Schwab and Matt Fabrizius.

The IMCA Stock Car feature saw Logan's Dustin McClurg make his way to the winner's circle. Jason Davis finished in the runner-up spot, followed by heat race winner Robert Rutherford, Dustin Newlin and Michael Zajic. Rutherford, of Norton, won the points title.

Veteran Jerry Hudson of Kensington won the IMCA Hobby Stock feature, with Cody Graham, Rhett Kingsbury, Kelly Karnopp and Josh Latka rounding out the top five. Karnopp was the second hometown driver to win the track championship.

Wakeeney's Brian Conness won the IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature, and with it the track championship. Heat race winner Kaid Calhoon was second and Troy Attwood third.
