NORTON, KS (July 26)—All four feature winners at Elmwood Park Speedway in Norton, KS, Saturday evening, July 26, were familiar to victory lane at the ½-mile oval.

The IMCA Modified main event found polesitter Doug ‘The Super Trooper’ Shearer in the top spot the first 2 laps before Dylan Sherfick made a pass for the lead. After a restart on lap 8, Kensington’s Josh ‘The Hammer’ Hudson passed Sherfick when the green replaced the yellow and drove away for his third win at Norton. Tim Watts finished second, followed by Corey Lagroon, Mitch Kline, and Gary Kline. Heat race winners were Hudson and Barry Maupin.

The IMCA Stock Car feature saw 3 different leaders in the 20-lap race. Bob Rutherford led the first two laps before giving way to Adam Balthazor. But as the field came to the crossed flags at the halfway point of the race ‘The Terminator’ Travis Sherfick of Wakeeney took control and drove on for his fourth victory of the season. Balthazor won a heated battle for second, trailed closely by cash dash winner Bryan Lariviere, Cory Struckhoff, and Dustin McClurg. J.R. McCreery and Sherfick won the two heat races.

Rhett ‘The Rocket’ Kingsbury of Smith Center led from green to checkered in the 14-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature, his second win in a row at Elmwood Park. Heat two victor Ricky Runnion finished in second, with B.J. Dauer, Kelly Karnopp, and Jerry Hudson rounding out the top five. Kingsbury won the other heat race. Roger Garrison rolled on the final lap of the feature race but was not injured.

The 4-cylinder Young Gun feature got off to a shaky start. On the second attempt, Andrew Soderlund barrel-rolled in turn 3. He was not injured but done for the night. After two more starting attempts failed, the field was lined up single-file for the 8-lap main event. Dusty Eagleburger led the first two laps before heat two winner Jesse Dunlap of Victoria took the lead and was first to the checkers. Heat one winner Loyd Schoen finished second and Drew Eagleburger was third.

Phil Hinger of Plainville was the evening’s cash dash sponsor. RESULTS
