Osborne hosts fair races

OSBORNE (July 24) — Osborne Speedway was host to fair races Thursday evening, July 24, featuring IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks. It was also a night that saw all 3 feature winners lead from green to checkered.
In the IMCA Modified feature, Tim Watts of Beloit jumped out to the early lead, trailed by Wes O’Bannon, Dave Hardesty, Barry Maupin, and Randy Wilson. The red flag flew on lap 4 when Brian Calhoon rolled off turn 1. Brian was not injured but was done for the night. The race then went caution free the remainder of the 15-lap event with Hardesty giving Watts all he could handle but Watts held on for the win. Maupin finished third, followed by Wilson and O’Bannon. Heat race winners were Maupin and Hardesty.
The IMCA Stock Car feature saw Kensington’s Cory Struckhoff make his way to victory lane. Struckhoff pulled away from the field and led all 12 caution free laps. Heat one winner J.R. McCreery finished second, trailed by Josh Hudson, Adam Balthazor, and Jeff Wessling. Jared Remus won the other heat race.
Veteran Jerry Hudson of Kensington topped the 12-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Brad McCoy chased Hudson the entire race, getting close but not close enough to make a pass. McCoy settled for second, with B.J. Dauer, heat one winner Jacob Williams, and Barry Schoen rounding out the top five. Cole Emerson also won a heat race.
