Lagroon, Dunlap first-time winners at RPM

HAYS (July 25) — Salina’s Corey Lagroon and Jesse Dunlap of Victoria made their way to victory lane at RPM Speedway in Hays, KS, Friday evening, July 25.
Lagroon worked his way through the field and passed leader Dave Hardesty coming to the white flag and hung on the final lap for the win in the IMCA Modified A-feature. Following Hardesty across the line were Danny Morrison, B-feature winner Barry Maupin, and Randy Wilson. Heat race winners included Jerry Teel, Lagroon, Tyler Hahn, and Jerry Phillips.
"The Terminator" Travis Sherfick of Wakeeney won his second IMCA Stock Car feature of the year at Hays. Heat two winner Josh Hudson finished in the runner-up spot, trailed by Tyler Hahn, Cory Struckhoff, and Nathan Glendening. Heat one winner Terry Cunningham had his throttle stick going into turn 3 and rolled his car several times. Cunningham was uninjured.
Marquette’s B.J. Dauer won his fourth IMCA Hobby Stock feature in 5 races held so far this season at RPM Speedway. Troy Robinson, Joe Couse, Joey Carter, and Mathew Crowell rounded out the top five. Ricky Runnion and Robinson claimed wins in the two heat races.
The IMCA Sport Compacts saw Dunlap make his way to the checkers first for the first time this season. Heat one winner Ryan Ayers was second, followed by Alex Loveless, Ron Wehling, and Montee Benien. Heat two winner Michael Smith was sixth.
It was Boy Scout/Girl Scout night at the speedway.
Racing action returns to RPM Speedway Friday, August 15. It will be Big Brothers/Big Sisters Night, and the Race Cars for Superstars also returns. RESULTS
