URSS sprint cars make final stop in Hays

The United Rebel Sprint Series 305 sprint cars will make their final trip to Hays on Friday night for the 2009 season.
The sprint cars will be joined by the IMCA modifieds, stocks and hobby stocks at RPM Speedway. Pits open at 4:30 p.m., and grandstands open at 5:30. Hot laps are scheduled for 6, followed by races at 7:30.
A free screening of "One Dream: Dirt Track Racing" will be shown at 5:30 p.m. at the Ellis County Fairgrounds. Area sprint car drivers Jon Johnson of Utica and Kenny Lutters of Ransom are featured in the film, which also highlights action from RPM and WaKeeney Speedway.
Admission to the races is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 12. Children younger than 5 are admitted free. A $5 meal deal will be offered for fans that includes a sloppy joe, a hamburger or brat, plus a bag of chips and a drink.
