STOCKTON (Aug. 13) -- Racing action returned to Rooks County Speedway in Stockton, KS, Wednesday evening, August 13, for the Rooks County Fair. The event was a points race for Wakeeney (KS) Speedway.

Twenty-four cars took to the track for the IMCA Modified feature. It took three tries before the race got underway, and when the green finally waved, Dylan Sherfick took the lead. Sherfick built up a big lead before the caution waved on lap 7 for Dave Hardesty who spun in turn 4. After the restart, Oberlin's David Murray Jr. got under Sherfick in turn 2 to take over the top spot. Even with another caution, no one had anything for Murray as he powered away for the win. Jerry Phillips finished second, followed by Jordan Grabouski, Sherfick, and heat one winner Mark 'The Z Man' Zorn. Hardesty, Jerry Teel, and Corey Lagroon were victorious in the other heat races.

Travis 'The Terminator' Sherfick of Wakeeney led all 20 laps of the caution free IMCA Stock Car feature. Cory Struckhoff and Nathan Glendening chased Sherfick the entire distance but had to settle for second and third. Tyler Hahn and Adam Balthazor rounded out the top five. Heat race winners were Sherfick, Struckhoff, and Glendening.

Marquette's B.J. Dauer led from green to checkered in the 15-lap IMCA Hobby Stock main event. The red flag waved on lap 13 when G.W. Fuller's car caught on fire. Fuller was not injured. This bunched the field on the restart but Dauer held on the remaining laps for the win. Heat two winner Jerry Hudson edged out Ricky 'The Racer' Runnion for the runner-up spot at the line, with Kirk Karst and Rhett 'The Rocket' Kingsbury rounding out the top five. Joey Carter and Luke Pfannenstiel were also victorious in heat race action.
