Alan Judy, Jim Armstrong pick up win at Liberal

LIBERAL (Aug. 3) -- The 2008 Five State Fair in Liberal came alive as the Modified and Stocks hit the Speedway to start their three night of racing at the historic venue. Liberal Kansas's Jim Armstrong and Beaver Oklahoma's Alan Judy claimed victories on night number one.
The Modified division took to the track with Liberal Kansas's Jim Graves leading the field to the green and quickly grabbing the lead with Logan Cabbell, Jim Armstrong, Cody Gearhart and Brenden Gemmill rounding out the top five. Cabbel grabbed the top spot on lap three with Gearhart in his tire tracks. Armstrong grabbed the third d spot on lap five and set his sights on the front two.
Lap thirteen saw Armstrong take the second spot from Cabbell ann. on lap fifteen take the lead from Gearhart for good. Lap nineteen saw Troy Gemmill come to challenge Cabbell for the third position. As the Checkered fell it was Armstrong picking up the win with Gearhart, Cabbell, Troy Gemmill and Zach Gossette rounding out the top five.
Heat Race winner were Brenden Gemmill, Troy Gemmill and Jeremy Gossett.

In the Stock Car division Hugoton Kansas Jason Kiley led the field to the green flag and jumped out to the lead with Tisha Loomis, Alan Judy, Ray Elfers and Edwin Elliot rounding out the top five. Kiley held the lead as Loomis battled for the runner up spot for several laps until Judy took the position on lap nine. Judy then passed Riley on lap ten to take the lead relegating Riley to the second spot as Loomis and Elliot held third and fourth respectively.
Loomis and Elliot battled for the third spot as the filed encountered lapped traffic, with Loomis holding the spot until lap fourteen when Elliot made the pass for the third spot. When the checkers fell it was Jim Armstrong picking up the win with Kiley, Elliot, Loomis and Jason Taylor rounding out the top five.
Heat race winners were Gene Fiason and Jason Taylor.
