Colby, KS. - Great weather greeted fans and drivers for the first time this year as other race nights have been rushed or canceled by rain. Jeff Tubbs continued his winning ways in the Econo class, Michael Schamberger won in the Hobby Stocks, Jason Rogers grabbed the win in the Stock class, and Jason Schoenberger was tops in the Modifieds. The next races will be during the Thomas County Free Fair Friday and Saturday July 30th and 31st at 7:00 pm. Hope to see you at the races!

Modifieds

Jason Schoenberger avoided wrecking and was able to maintain the lead as a slowing car made a sudden move to the pits two laps from the checkered flag to seal his victory in the Modified main event. Marty Clark couldn't run Schoenberger down and had to settle for second. Keith Stegman held off a hard charging Dwayne Dechant for third and Chris Remetes was fifth. Milo Lippelmann finished sixth and Nate Moore seventh. Thirteen Modifieds were on hand.

Stock Cars

Jason Rogers used a great starting spot to get an early lead in the Stock class main event. Bruce Plumisto gained several car lengths and made it to the back bumper of Rogers but couldn't pull out for the pass. Three laps from the checkered flag, Dustin Daniels started making the low side of the track work and just got ahead of Plumisto at the finish line but couldn't get past Rogers with Rogers getting the win. BJ Wagoner was not far behind in fourth and Allen Snethen finished fifth with Joe Austin getting to the checkered flag in sixth.

Hobby Stocks

Michael Schamberger wasted little time in getting from sixth starting spot to the front of the field, where he was able to maintain a four to five car-length lead the rest of the race. Josh Latka had to start behind Schamberger and was matching lap times but unable to attempt a pass and finished second. Richard Boon also started toward the back of the field and moved up nicely to finish third. Dalton Dolan and Jason McIntyre were battling for fourth with Dolan winning that battle and McIntyre getting a top five. There were nine Hobby Stocks on-hand.

Econos

Jeff Tubbs is still managing to win races but the competition is getting stiffer. Jason Gray was right on his bumper in the heat, cash dash and feature but had to settle for second in each contest. Jory Friesen in his second race at Colby ran third and Krista Pummer finished fourth. Eight Econos were in the main.
