The Drivers in the United Rebel Sprint Series are gearing up for what promises to be the most grueling race week in URSS history. The Rebels will be racing eight times in nine days at six different tracks during the 2010 version of Speedweek. Tracks range from a quarter mile bullring at LaCrosse to the Historic Half Mile Highbanks at Belleville.
The Rebels kick off the week at the Thomas County Fair in Colby Kansas Friday July 30th. The Rebels return to the 3/8's mile Thomas County Speedway where last year Liberal Kansas Racer Jason Martin bested the field to take his second win of the 2009 season. The show will be a dual region show giving drivers the chance to earn points in both the Kansas and Colorado Regions. For more information visit the Thomas County Speedways website at www.thomascountyspeedway.com.
The Rebels head to the Great American Dirt Track at the Jetmore Motorplex for night two of Speedweeks Saturday July 31st. It will be the Rebels seventh appearance at the 3/8's oval in 2010. So far Raymond Seemann, Brian Herbert and Ty Williams have graced Victory Lane in the 2010 season. Look for a strong field of cars battling it out two and three wide until the checkered flag drops keeping fans on the edge of their seats. For more information check out the tracks website at www.greatamericandirttrack.com.
The URSS Rebels return once again to the Fairgrounds Speedway at Liberal Kansas for three nights of racing action at the Five State Fair Sunday August 1st, Monday August 2nd and Tuesday August 3rd. The racing will be fast and furious as the Rebels burn up the 3/8's mile d-shaped oval. The last time the Rebels were at the Five State Fair, Quinter Kansas racer CJ Johnson made a clean sweep of the three nights of hard-core racing. Look for area drivers Ty Williams, Jason Martin, Taylor Velasquez, Barry Crane, Jerry and Cody Caldwell, Lance Davis, Jordan Randles, Kory Lira and a host of URSS Regulars as they burn up the track.
The Rebels take a well deserved break on Wednesday before making their first appearance at the Historic Half Mile High Banks at Belleville Kansas on Thursday August 5th. The sweeping Half Mile will test the driver's abilities as they hit the World's Fastest Half Mile. Known as one of the Country's most demanding racetracks, the High Banks will test the metal of the Rebels. This is a must see show!! The Rebels make their final appearance at Hutchinson Raceway Park for the 2010 racing season as part of Speed Week on Friday August 6th. In their three previous races at HRP, Ty Williams, Tanner Mullens and Darrren Bowman have made the trip to Victory Lane. Look forward to another night of great racing with the Rebels as the tackle the tricky 3/8's mile oval at HRP, for more information on Hutchinson Raceway Park visit their website at http://h-r-p.tripod.com.
The Rebels end Speed Week Saturday August 7th at the "Bullring" at the Rush County Fair at LaCrosse Kansas. This race is one the hallmarks of the URSS Season as the Rebels do battle on the º mile oval. Last year saw the Rebels treat the standing room only crowd to a twenty-five caution free A Main. Michael Williams lead twenty-three laps of the event until Raymond Seemann used lapped traffic to take the win. This year marks the 100 Anniversary of the Rush County Fair and this year's race will feature a $100.00 per lap bonus paid the driver leading each lap. Look for a stellar field of URSS Drivers at the "Bullring" battling it out for the Lion's share of the purse.
