Huge three-day weekend features URSS at WaKeeney, Hays

The United Rebel Sprint Series sets off on one of the biggest racing weekends of the season as the Rebels take to the track for three nights of edge of your seat racing action. Racers from five states will converge on Western Kansas to battle on two lightening fast 3/8's ovals for Dual Region points. The United Rebel Sprint Series features exciting and close racing with eleven different Drivers visiting Victory Lane so far in the twenty-one races held during the 2010 Season. Several events this season have gone twenty-five caution free laps, hardly giving the fans a chance to catch their breath during the races.
First up is the Rebels first appearance at the Wakeeney Speedway in Wakeeney, Kansas. The action will be fast and furious as the Rebels invade the 3/8's mile clay oval. The drivers have always counted the Wakeeney Speedway as one of their favorite tracks to visit as it is always gives them multiple grooves of racing that allow a lot passing. Previous winners at the Wakeeney Speedway have included Jon Johnson, C.J. Johnson, Taylor Velasquez, Kirby Hagans and Jason Martin. Look for an outstanding field of cars as this is the first of a three-race weekend, drivers will be looking to score valuable Dual Region points.
Joining the Rebels will be IMCA Modifieds, Sport Modifieds, Stocks and Hobby Stocks. Pits open at 4:30, Grandstands at 5:30, Hot Laps at 6:30 with racing action beginning at 7:30. Saturday July 17th & Sunday July 18th RPM Speedway at the Ellis County Fairgrounds in Hays, Kansas will come alive as racers from Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, Missouri and Kansas will converge for the "3rd Annual Wheatshocker Rebel Nationals." The United Rebel Sprint Series racers will all be vying for the $2000.00 to win on Sunday night.
The "Wheatshocker Rebel Nationals" promises to be one of the most competitive fields of 305 Sprint Cars assembled anywhere this Season. The URSS Traveling Series has the best of the areas seasoned Veterans along with a large and talented group of "Young Guns" who aren't afraid to put their cars on the razors edge to go for the win.
United Rebel Sprint Series Founder Rick Salem is expecting over 50 teams to converge on the RPM Speedway to duke it out for the weekend. Salem went on to say, "With the continued growth of the URSS Series, it was a logical choice to hold this event in Hays." "The central location is perfect for teams from throughout the five states that the URSS drivers hail from to gather for this event." Salem went on to say, "A big thanks goes out to the Ellis County Fair Association again this year for their help and their willingness to host what has become the biggest 305 Sprint Car race in the nation."
Drivers expected to attend include 2008 URSS National Champion Brian Herbert, Smokey Fairbank, 2008 Wheatshocker Nationals Champion C.J. Johnson, Keefe Hemel, Cody Salem, Darren Bowman, Ray Seemann, 2009 Wheatshocker Nationals Champion Patrick Bourke, Barry Crane, Jeff Radcliffe, Nick Haygood, Adam Trimble, Blake Smith Jr., Mike Parker, Judd Sheaffer, Blake Bogenhagen, Tim Perkins and a host of Rookie of the Year Contenders like Zach Blurton, Jordan Randles, Shelby Staples, Cole Wood and many more.
Both nights feature full racing programs with the URSS racing for $500 to win on Saturday night. The top ten drivers will automatically transfer to Sunday's 30 lap A Feature. Sunday night will feature a full racing program to fill the remaining ten spots for the $2,000.00 to win, $200.00 to start A Feature.
Joining the racing card Saturday Night will be the IMCA Sport Compacts, Sport Modifieds and Hobby Stocks with the Pit Gates will open at 4pm, Grandstands at 5pm, Check-in closing at 6pm with racing action starting at 7pm.
Joining the racing card Sunday night will IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars and the always entertaining Mod Lites burning up the track with the Pit Gates will open at 3pm, Grandstands at 4pm, Check-in closing at 5pm with racing action stating at 6pm.
