Now, Ray Seemann and the rest of the United Rebel Sprint Series 305 sprint cars will get a chance to finish what they started.
Well, as long as Mother Nature doesn't intervene one more time.
Seemann and the URSS will return to WaKeeney Speedway on Monday night during the Trego County Fair. Racing action is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The night will feature two A-mains for the URSS, which will finish off its feature that was postponed by rain May 25.
Seemann is locked in the make-up feature that was weathered out after battling in a tough B-main with many heavy-hitters of the series, including Quinter's C.J. Johnson and Dodge City's Brian Herbert.
"I was actually running good that night," Seemann said. "Me and Cody were running pretty good in the B, having a pretty good race."
Seemann will start just past the halfway point in the pack for the make-up race, then battle it out for a qualifying spot in Monday's regular show through heat races.
"WaKeeney is always fast and smooth," he said. "I heard from a couple modified drivers that the last time they raced there, the track was the best they've ever seen it. I hope they can duplicate that for us."
Monday's races wrap up a busy weekend for the URSS, which also had two days of races scheduled for Norton on Saturday and today.
The weekend will serve as more of a precursor as to who could have a chance at winning the national title in the URSS this year.
Entering the weekend, Johnson led the national points with 2,042, followed by Ransom's Smokey Fairbank with 1,838. Herbert was third with 1,560, and Seemann was fourth at 1,550. Keefe Hemel was fifth with 1,532. A driver's best 25 finishes throughout the season will make up his final point total.
"Smokey and Herbert and Keefe have one more race than I have so far," said Seemann, who was third in national points in 2008. "Hopefully it will cycle back around so everyone hits the number of races needed."
Seemann has yet to hit victory lane this summer, but he has been close several times.
He's hoping to break into the win column at one of the four feature races this weekend in northwest Kansas.
"That'd be good. If I could get one of them, that'd be great," the Jetmore driver said.
