Concord, NC -- June 24, 2009 -- World of Outlaws and SPEED officials have updated the 2009 broadcast schedule for "The Greatest Show on Dirt" after a rain-delayed program on the network forced the opening night of action at the Boot Hill Showdown at Dodge City (Kan.) Raceway Park to be pre-empted last weekend. That event will now air at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.
The change will push the final round of the Boot Hill Showdown to a new date and time -- 2 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, July 5.
The schedule was set to ensure continuity in the telecasts and make certain the events will be broadcast in the order in which they were contested. It also was important to lock in a time slot for fans that fit with the rest of the scheduled World of Outlaws events on SPEED.
Following the 3 p.m. ET race on June 27 and the 2 p.m. ET race on July 5, the World of Outlaws will return to SPEED at 5 p.m. ET on Aug. 9 in a two-hour special Kings Royal event from Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, and again at 8 p.m. ET on Oct. 3 in the three-hour spectacular National Open from Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series is back on SPEED with more than two-hours of action at 2 p.m. ET on July 25 from the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., as well as the Gopher 50 at 3 p.m. ET on Aug. 15 from Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.
The biggest season finale in dirt track racing -- the World of Outlaws World Finals -- will also air on SPEED in a massive three-hour extravaganza at 8 p.m. ET on Nov. 7 featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.
