World of Outlaws

Elbridge, NY--October 8, 2009--It's been a while since the World of Outlaws have been a part of Super DIRT Week, but the winged warriors will return as part of the famed event this week with the New York 25 at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, New York on Saturday, October 10. Also on Friday, October 9 four drivers will take part in the "King of the Mile" exhibition at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, with 20-time series champion Steve Kinser taking to the track, along with 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Jason Sides, reigning rookie titlist Lucas Wolfe and multi-time Lernerville Speedway track champion Ed Lynch Jr.

The New Yorker 25 will be the World of Outlaws first fall race at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park since 1999. Steve Kinser has won each of the last two races for the series at the sprawling 5/8-mile to bring his career total to 10 victories at the track to lead all drivers. Other current World of Outlaws drivers that have won at Rolling Wheels include three-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz who has two career triumphs at the track, along with 2001 series titlist Danny Lasoski who took the checkered flag in 2002.

The World of Outlaws have raced twice this season in the state of New York, with Schatz picking up a win at Canandaigua Speedway on Memorial Day and Craig Dollansky winning at Lebanon Valley Speedway in July.

Entering the New Yorker 25 just four events remain on the 2009 schedule for the World of Outlaws, with Donny Schatz holding a 14-point lead over Jason Meyers in the championship standings, with Joey Saldana third, 26 markers behind Meyers and 40 out of the lead. Last season Meyers finished second at Rolling Wheels, with Schatz third and Saldana sixth.

The New Yorker 25 will be the series final race in the Empire State this season and the final race on the East Coast in what is shaping up to be the most competitive season in series history.

Slidejobs- The New Yorker 25 at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park:

Top-10 all the time: Steve Kinser has made 26 starts in his career at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park and has finished in the Top-10 in each and every one of them. Among those finishes are 10 wins and 19 Top-Fives to top all drivers. He won for the first time at the sprawling 5/8-mile in 1981 and has been victorious in each of his last two starts at the track, leading all 25 laps last season and the final 10 the year before. In his career, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion has won a total of 36 times in the state of New York. He heads to the Empire State this season fourth in points and has two victories. He will open the weekend by taking part in the "King of the Mile" exhibition race at the New York State Fairgrounds, a track he has won at five times in his career, including in the World of Outlaws last race at the "Moody Mile" in 1995.

Fast on the big track: Donny Schatz has won twice in his career at Rolling Wheels and has eight Top-10 finishes with seven of those being Top-Fives in 12 starts. His most recent triumph there came in 2006 and he has finished third in each of the last two races for the World of Outlaws at the facility. The three-time and defending series champion has won 12 times this year and holds a slim 14-point lead over Jason Meyers as he chases his fourth consecutive title. He won earlier this season in New York at Canandaigua Speedway on Memorial Day to bring his career win total in the state to six. The North Dakota native leads the series with 37 Top-Five finishes.

Another former winner : Danny Lasoski is one of just three drivers currently competing full-time with the World of Outlaws that has won at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in the past. He has one win at Rolling Wheels, with that coming in 2002 and has 10 career Top-10 finishes in 13 starts at the track. The 2001 series champion finished third in each of his two starts in New York this season and dating back to 2005 has nine consecutive finishes of ninth or better in the Empire State. Lasoski has won five times this year and is currently sixth in points as he continues his first season driving for the Parsons Motorsports team based out of Iowa.

Locked in a title fight: Jason Meyers heads to Rolling Wheels Raceway Park just 14 points behind Donny Schatz in the series standings. He currently leads the series with 51 Top-10 finishes as he chases his first series title. He has four Top-10 finishes in his career at Rolling Wheels in just a handful of starts, including a second-place finish last season. The California native has won eight A-Feature events this season and nine times overall. He enters the event at Rolling Wheels having scored nine consecutive Top-10 finishes in the state of New York. He has not finished outside of the Top-10 in a World of Outlaws event since August 21, a span of 13 races, picking up 10 podium finishes in that span.

Always fast at Rolling Wheels: Joey Saldana has seven Top-10 finishes in 10 career starts at Rolling Wheels entering this weekend's event. He ran second at the track in 2007 and was sixth last season. He has won a series best 18 A-Feature events this year and 19 times overall, which set a new career high for the second generation driver. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana is currently third in points 26 markers behind Jason Meyers who is second and 40 markers out of the lead. He has one career win in New York, with that coming in 2003 at Lebanon Valley Speedway.

Looking to chance his luck: Jason Sides has not had the best of luck at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park during his career. He has one Top-10 finish at the track in a limited number of starts. He has seven career Top-10 finishes in the state of New York. The native of Bartlett, Tennessee has won twice this season and is currently fifth in points on the strength of 44 Top-10 finishes as he continues the best season of his career with the World of Outlaws. He has finished fourth and seventh in his two starts in New York this season. The 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner has won twice this season.

Heading east: Craig Dollansky will compete at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park this weekend aboard the No. 27 machine for the Heffner Racing Enterprises team for whom he drove last weekend at Williams Grove Speedway. The native of Elk River, Minnesota came all the way from the 24th starting spot into the Top-10 and was running seventh with two laps to go when he was caught up in an accident. Dollansky is the current track record holder at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, a mark he set in 2004. He has six consecutive Top-10 finishes at the track with four of those being Top-Five performances. Dollansky has won three times this season with the World of Outlaws and is currently seventh in points.

Filling in: Cody Darrah will make his first start at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park on Saturday, October 10 and also his first start for the Kasey Kahne Racing team in the No. 19, as he fills in for Brad Sweet who had a previous commitment that day. Darrah scored his first World of Outlaws win last Saturday night at Williams Grove Speedway in the completion of the Summer Nationals that was postponed by rain back in July. Darrah has six Top-10 finishes in a limited number of starts this season with the World of Outlaws driving for his family owned team. The New Yorker 25 will serve as his first start as well in the state of New York.

A solid run: Kraig Kinser earned the best finish of his career at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park last season coming home fifth in just his third visit to the track and his first in three seasons. In his career in the state of New York, the Indiana native has seven Top-10 finishes. He is currently eighth this season in points on the strength of 28 Top-10 finishes.

A true veteran: Jac Haudenschild raced for the first time at Rolling Wheels in 1983. Over the years, he has picked up 11 Top-10 finishes at the sprawling 5/8-mile with five of those being Top-Fives. In his career in the state of New York the 2009 inductee into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame has two wins and over 50 Top-10 finishes. He is currently ninth in points this season as he chases his first win of the year.

Learning the track: Lucas Wolfe will make the third start of his career at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park this weekend. The reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has six career Top-10 finishes in the state of New York including two in his last three starts in the state. He is currently 10th in the World of Outlaws championship standings this season on the strength of 15 Top-10 finishes.

Another new track: Brian Ellenberger will visit Rolling Wheels for the first time this weekend. For the leading contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year award, it will be the final track he visits for the first time this season as the remaining three tracks on the schedule he has competed at. He has raced three previous times in the state of New York, including twice this season and has one career Top-10 finish in the state.
