Students accept FHSU scholarships for 2012-13 academic year

Local students have accepted scholarships to Fort Hays State University for the 2012-13 academic year.
Colby: Lacy O'Neal, a 2012 Colby High School graduate, accepted a $500 Copper Academic Award. O'Neal is the daughter of L.J. and Karen O'Neal, Colby. She plans to major in elementary education.
Hays: Chelsey Burkholder, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in art and design. Burkholder is the daughter of Bruce Burkholder, Hays. She plans to major in art.
Kiley Dinkel, a 2012 Hays High school graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in music. Dinkel is the daughter of Dennis and Jody Dinkel, Hays. She plans to major in music.
Jonathan Folkerts, a 2012 Hays High School and Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science graduate, accepted a $4,000 Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science Scholarship, a $2,000 FHSU Presidential Award and a $1,200 Miller Black and Gold Academic Award. Folkerts is the son of Tim and Melanie Folkerts, Hays. He plans to major in physics.
Zachary Gibson, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted a $500 Copper Academic Award. Gibson is the son of Josh and Erin Gibson, Hays.
Becca Herndon, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in allied health. Herndon is the daughter of Chad and Holly Augustine, Hays. She plans a career in radiology.
Dylan Scoby, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award from the College of Business and Entrepreneurship. Scoby is the son of Courtney King, Hays. He plans to major in finance.
Rylie Scott, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in psychology. Scott is the daughter of Robert Scott, Hays. She plans to major in psychology.
Brenda Soto, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Soto is the daughter of Humberto Soto and Yolanda Cabral, Hays. She plans to major in chemistry.
Tyler Wooldridge, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award from the College of Business and Entrepreneurship. Wooldridge is the son of Brian and Annette Wooldridge, Hays. He plans to major in finance.
Hoxie: Roman King, a 2011 Hoxie High School graduate, accepted a $1,200 Miller Black and Gold Academic Award. King is the son of Roger and Cyndie Aumiller, Hoxie. He plans to major in history.
McCracken: Haily Gilbert, a 2012 La Crosse High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in teacher education. Gilbert is the daughter of Holly Gilbert, McCracken. She plans to major in education.
Norton: Fayth Davenport, a 2012 Northern Valley High School graduate, accepted a $500 Copper Academic Award. Davenport is the daughter of Tonya Snyder, Norton. She plans to major in biology.
Schoenchen: Natalie Bethel, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in pre-pharmacy. Bethel is the daughter of Greg and Jennifer Bethel, Schoenchen. She plans a career in pharmacy.
Victoria: Corinna Gagnon, a 2012 Victoria High School graduate, accepted a $500 Tiger Generational Scholarship. Gagnon is the daughter of Dave and Lisa Gagnon, Victoria. She plans to major in nursing.
Morgan Schremmer, a 2012 Victoria High School graduate, accepted an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Schremmer is the daughter of Paul and Renee Schremmer, Victoria.
WaKeeney: Kaylin Hawman, a 2012 Trego Community High School and Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science graduate, accepted a $4,000 Kansas Academuy of Mathematics and Science Scholarship. Hawman is the daughter of Jason Hawman, WaKeeney. She plans to major in biology.
Weskan: Meghann Cline, a 2012 Weskan High School graduate, accepted a $500 Tiger Generational Scholarship. Cline is the daughter of Rick and Kirsten Cline, Weskan. She plans to major in social work.
