Area students earn honors

Summer Castens-Fields of Atwood was named a student ambassador for the office of admissions at Cloud County Community College for the 2013-14 academic year.

Castens-Fields is a sophomore early childhood education major and a graduate of Rawlins County High School.

Student ambassadors are selected from the Cloud County Community College student population through an interview process conducted by the Admissions staff. Student ambassadors not only act as positive role models to students, but are also the first point of contact for potential students and their families. The student ambassadors give campus tours, perform various office work to assist in student recruitment, and they assist in hosting recruitment events on campus.

Cloud County Community College, founded in 1965, is one of 26 public two-year community and technical colleges in Kansas and is coordinated by the Kansas Board of Regents.

Michelle Allen, a sophomore from Smith Center, was elected to the student senate for the office of sophomore rep at Cloud County Community College for the 2013-14 academic year.

Allen is an ag production operation manager major and a graduate of Smith Center High School.

Student Senate officers are selected from the Cloud County Community College student population through an election process.

The student senate organization's objective is to promote good relations throughout the entire college and campus, improve student-faculty relationships, assist in the management of student activities, and charter college clubs and other organizations. Both freshmen and sophomores are involved in Senate.
