Clare and Betty Lou Jacob

Clare "Jake" Theodore and Betty Lou Reitcheck Jacob, Sperry, Okla., formerly of Hoxie, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 13, 2009. The couple will be honored with a reception hosted by their children from 2 to 4 p.m. June 14 at Midwest Energy Building, Hoxie.

Children of the couple are Deborah Bond and husband, Joe, Denham Springs, La.; Vickie Jacob and fiancée, Robert Evatt, Broken Arrow, Okla.; and Sheri Mitchell and husband, Mark, Owasso, Okla. The couple have four grandchildren, Courtney, Joshua, Jacob and Emily.

The couple met at Hoxie High School, where they were high school sweethearts. She worked in the Hoxie and Colby school systems until 1973. The family then moved to Oklahoma, where he obtained his building engineer's license. He retired in 2000 after 25 years as a building engineer. She is a homemaker.

Clare "Jake" Theodore and Betty Lou (Reitcheck) Jacob were married Aug. 13, 1959, in Seguin.
