James (Jim) and Mary Jean Marvin, Hays, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Monday.

The Marvins, along with their family, rededicated their vows at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, on Saturday, with an evening of celebration for family and friends that followed at Gella's, hosted by Mary Jean's sister-in-law and nieces.

Jim served four years overseas in the Army. After coming back to Kansas, he worked for 33 years at the Hays Water Plant and another 13 years for Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas driving a van for disabled individuals. Mary Jean worked as a machine operator for 16 years at Travenol and another 13 years at Adronics. She also was a cook at St. John's New Horizons for seven years.

The couple has spent the last five years delivering meals on wheels together in Hays, but now both are enjoying retirement and love traveling and spoiling their grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The couple has a son, Paul Marvin and wife, Sarah, North Carolina.

The couple has two grandchildren, Elizabeth, North Carolina, and Karen, Texas.

Cards can be sent to the couple at 302 E. 23rd, Hays, KS 67601.
