Terri and Kevin McDonald and Linda and Joe Glassman, all of Hays, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth Erin McDonald, to Eric Brent Powers, son of Hope and David Powers, McLean, Va.

The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School, Georgetown University and Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. She is employed as a law clerk to Judge Amy Berman Jackson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

The prospective bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of McLean High School, McLean, Va., Dartmouth College and Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. He is employed as an attorney at Freeborn and Peters, a law firm in Chicago.

An Oct. 7, 2012, wedding is planned in Chicago, Ill.

A reception celebrating the couple will be in Hays in January.
