Stan and Joyce Newell, Hays, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Emily Newell, to Lance Hartman, son of Don and Mary Hartman, Grainfield.

The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School and a 2007 graduate of Hays Academy of Hair Design. She is a cosmetologist at Redz Salon, Hays.

The prospective bridegroom is a 2003 graduate of Wheatland High School, Grainfield, and a 2008 graduate of Fort Hays State University. He is employed at Fastenal, Hays.

A Nov. 7, 2009, wedding is planned at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays.
