WICHITA -- The Newman University Music Department presented its first instrumental concert of the year Dec. 9. The performance were staged in the Performance Hall of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman University campus.

The concert, entitled "Journey," represented festive music by the Newman Concert Band and the Newman String Ensemble directed by Instrumental Music Director David A. Baxter. The concert portrays periods of mankind's journey toward meaning and faith through the ages -- a fitting focus during the Advent season.

Brandi Boese, La Crosse, participated in the Newman University Concert Band, playing the trumpet.
