James and Patricia Perkins, Mission, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Perkins, to Jeff Wente, son of Ronald and Debra Wente, Hays.

The bride-elect is a graduate of University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in human development and family life. She is an assistant director for Hospital Hill Family Learning Center.

The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and University of Missouri-Kansas City with a master's of business administration. He is employed at Sprint.

An Oct. 12, 2008, wedding is planned at Wente Vineyards. Livermore, Calif.
