Rachel Lynn Schmidt and Steven Walter McCluskey were married Oct. 17, 2009, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, with Father Kevin Weber and Deacon Tom Koerner officiating.

Parents of the couple are Larry and Michelle Wittman, Hays, John and Dana Schmidt, Parker, Colo., Lynn McCluskey, Junction City, and the late Lowell McCluskey.

The bride was escorted by her father.

Honor attendant was Jennifer Schmidt, Littleton, Colo., twin sister of the bride.

Attendants were Erika Schmidt, Hays, sister of the bride, Kirby Haynes, Wichita, friend of the bride, and Megan McCluskey, Kansas City, sister-in-law of the groom.

Best man was Donald McCluskey, Kansas City, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Gerrod Dawson, Hutchinson, friend of the groom, and Joshua Schmidt and Christopher Schmidt, both of Hays, brothers of the bride. Usher were James Wittman, Hays, step-brother of the bride, and Scott Hall, Chapman, friend of the groom.

Candlelighters was Kalie Tutak, Hays, friend of the bride. Flower girls were Chase and Skylar Wittman, nieces of the bride. Ringbearer was Kael Arasmith, nephew of the bride.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Hays High School. She is a senior at Fort Hays State University, pursuing a degree in history and secondary education.

The bridegroom is a 1995 graduate of Chapman High School and attended FHSU for geoscience studies. He was a torpedoman's mate in the U.S. Navy and is merchandising manager at Orscheln's Farm and Home, Hays.

The couple will take a wedding trip to Puerto Rico at a later date. The newlyweds are at home in Hays.
