Ben J. and Florence L. (Bahr) Shaffer celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner and card shower during Thanksgiving weekend.
The couple lived in Hays, Ness City and Great Bend. He retired from the oilfield and works for the community college in the spring and summer months. She is retired from her nursing profession as a registered nurse.
Children of the couple are Linda Elliott and husband, Tom, McPherson, Patsy Giangrosso and husband, Charli, Alva, Okla., Kenneth Shaffer and wife, Donna, Great Bend, Tom Shaffer and wife, Sue, Wichita, Dan Shaffer, rural St. John, Treva Goodman and husband, Allen, Ness City, Cathy Shaffer, Hays, Laurie Logan and husband, Richard, Clay Center, and Sharon Denney and husband, Joe, Great Bend.
The couple has 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
