Kim and Debora Smoot, Belle Fourche, S.D., announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Marli Ann Smoot, to Jared Daniel Schippers, son of Daniel and Mary Kay Schippers, Victoria.
The bride-elect graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and Latin American studies. She will be attending University of Cincinnati School of Law in August.
The prospective bridegroom graduated from KU with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering this month.
A June 27, 2009, outdoor wedding is planned at Custer State Park, South Dakota.
