Gary and Roxanne Solomon, Ellis, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Rachel Solomon to Scott Schmidt, son of Steve and Sue Schmidt, Hays.
The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of Ellis High School and 2003 graduate of Kansas State University. She is employed as a human resources specialist at Fort Leavenworth.
The prospective bridegroom is a 2000 graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School and graduated from KSU in mechanical engineering.
He is a project engineer with Bayer CropScience in Kansas City, Mo.
An Oct. 6, 2012, wedding is planned at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Hays.
