Martin and Mary Straub, Hays, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Stacia Straub, to Matthew Cartlidge, Great Bend.

The bride-elect is a student at Fort Hays State University studying Spanish and secondary education. She plans to graduate in May.

The bridegroom is a 2008 graduate of FHSU and is attending Kansas State University in the fall to pursue a master's degree in geography.

A Dec. 27, 2008, wedding is planned at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays.
