Melissa Wasinger and John Mayers were married Aug. 29, 2009, at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, with Father Mike Scully officiating.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wasinger, Victoria, and Mr. and Mrs. John Mayers, Albert.

Grandparents of the couple are the late Mike and Georgine Wasinger, the late Ben and Sally Braun, Helen (Mayers) Blado, the late Virgil Mayers and the late Anton J. and Evelyn Zink.

The bride was escorted by her father.

Honor attendant was Miranda Watkins, friend of the bride. Attendants were Kerry Wasinger, sister-in-law of the bride, Meaghan Moore, friend of the bride, and Gabrielle Mayers, sister of the groom.

Best man was Chris Elsen, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Lee File, cousin of the groom, Josh Mayers, brother of the groom, and John Ford, friend of the groom. Ushers were Cory Elsen, friend of the groom, Zachary Mayers and David Mayers, brothers of the groom, and Matthew Mayers, nephew of the groom.

Flower girl was Madison Mayers, daughter of the couple. Ringbearer was Kyle Wasinger, nephew of the bride.

The bride graduated from Victoria High School and Fort Hays State University. She is employed at High Plains Mental Health Center.

The bridegroom graduated from Otis-Bison High School and Kansas State University. He is employed at WW Drilling, WaKeeney.

Following a wedding trip to Maui, Hawaii, the newlyweds are at home in Hays.
