Ellis County students accept FHSU scholarships

Local students have been awarded scholarships to Fort Hays State University for the 2013-14 academic year.

Hays

Madison Bainter, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in justice studies. Bainter is the daughter of Kevin and Stephanie Bainter, Hays, and Carolyn Bainter, Gorham. She plans to major in justice studies.

Landon Basgall, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Basgall is the son of Keith and Jean Basgall, Hays. He plans to major in accounting.

Thatcher Brown, a 2013 Ellis High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award and a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in education. Brown is the son of Troy and Sherri Brown, Hays. He plans to major in education.

Faith Burdine, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded an $818 Anton A. and Cora M. Gaschler Scholarship. Burdine is the daughter of Riley Burdine and Debbie Herrman, Hays. She plans to major in psychology.

Millie Copper, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Copper Academic Award. Copper is the daughter of Jeff and Marla Copper, Hays. She plans to major in marketing.

Ryan Engel, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Copper Academic Award. Engel is the son of Eric Engel, Hays, and Claudia Engel, Hays.

Devan Flegler, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in psychology. Flegler is the son of Stu and Kayla Flegler, Hays. He plans to major in psychology.

Nicholas Glassman, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship and a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Glassman is the son of Ed and Diana Glassman, Hays. He plans to major in marketing.

William Goodrow, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $1,000 Paul and Virginia Miller Scholarship. Goodrow is the son of Monty and Mary Goodrow, Hays. He plans to major in mathematics.

Kaitlin Gulley, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in health and human performance and a $500 Copper Academic Award. Gulley is the daughter of Don and Joni Gulley, Hays. She plans to major in health and human performance.

Anna Hickert, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $1,200 Miller Black and Gold Academic Award. Hickert is the daughter of Kevin and Sondra Hickert, Hays. She plans a career in veterinary medicine.

Greyson Holzmeister, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Holzmeister is the daughter of Ivan and Charlene Holzmeister, Hays, and Kathy Albert.

Alivia Inlow, a 2013 Thomas More Prep-Marian High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award and a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in biological sciences. Inlow is the daughter of Roy and Jayne Inlow, Hays. She plans to major in zoology.

Joshua Johnson, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship and a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Johnson is the son of David Johnson and Kathy Ostrander, Hays. He plans to major in business management.

Diane Lee, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $2,000 FHSU Presidential Award and a $1,200 Miller Black and Gold Academic Award. Lee is the daughter of Ed and Rhonda Lee, Hays. She plans to major in biology.

Sarah Malott, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in agriculture and an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Malott is the daughter of Scott Malott, Hays, and Dawn Malott, Hays. She plans to major in animal science.

Blake Mathews, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Mathews is the son of Brennan and Cammy Uehling, Hays. He plans to major in athletic training.

Annie Mindrup, a 2013 Thomas More Prep-Marian High School graduate, was awarded an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Mindrup is the daughter of Joe and Meg Mindrup, Hays. She plans to major in communication.

Dustin Mulkey, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Mulkey is the son of James and Shawn Mulkey, Hays. He plans to major in nursing.

Derek Peckham, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $400 Jerry and Robba Moran Scholarship. Peckham is the son of Rich and Joyce Peckham, Hays.

Chance Pitcock, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Pitcock is the son of David and Barb Pitcock, Hays. He plans to major in business.

Karassa Prochaska, a 2011 Hays High School graduate and a Garden City Community College transfer student, was awarded a $1,000 Transfer Student Award. Prochaska is the daughter of David Prochaska and Tess Bennett, Hays. She plans to career in physical therapy.

Alyssa Reed, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $300 Kent Collier Scholarship. Reed is the daughter of Tommy and Lisa Reed, Hays. She plans a career in business communication.

Chelsie Schoendaller, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award and a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in allied health. Schoendaller is the daughter of Dave and Kristie Schoendaller, Hays. She plans to major in medical diagnostic imaging.

Maleigha Siglinger-Albers, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Siglinger-Albers is the daughter of Loren Albers, Hays. She plans to major in English.

Ashley Smith, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Smith is the daughter of Lance Smith, Hays. She plans to major in music.

Marshall Sharp, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $1,200 Miller Black and Gold Academic Award. Sharp is the son of Cliff and Wendy Gallington, Hays. He plans to major in physics.

Kirsten Sulzman, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Copper Academic Award. Sulzman is the daughter of Kyle Sulzman, Hays, and Julie Sulzman, Hays. She plans to major in medical diagnostic imaging.

Anthony Walters, a 2013 Thomas More Prep-Marian High School graduate, was awarded an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Walters is the son of Marty and Anita Walters, Hays. He plans a career in architecture.

Nolan Weiser, a 2013 Plainville High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in justice studies and a $500 Copper Academic Award. Weiser is the son of Lonnie and Leta Weiser, Hays. He plans to major in justice studies.

Austin Werth, a 2013 Thomas More Prep-Marian High School graduate, was awarded an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Werth is the son of Kent and Shawnda Werth, Hays. He plans a career in pharmaceuticals.

Amber Wooldridge, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in education and an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Wooldridge is the daughter of Brian and Annette Wooldridge, Hays. She plans to major in elementary education.

Brianna Wooldridge, a 2013 Hays High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award and a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in mathematics. Wooldridge is the daughter of Brian and Annette Wooldridge, Hays. She plans to major in mathematics education.

Victoria

Dylan Braun, a 2013 Victoria High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in health and human performance, a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship and a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award. Braun is the son of Jeff and Darla Braun, Victoria. He plans to major in health and human performance or management.

Ashley Dome, a 2013 Victoria High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in education. Dome is the daughter of Stuart and Tammy Dome, Victoria. She plans to major in elementary education.

Anna Kuhn, a 2011 Victoria High School graduate, was awarded a $5,000 Farmer Family Excellence Petroleum Scholarship. Kuhn is the daughter of Joe and Diane Kuhn, Victoria. She plans to major in geology.

Michael Lang, a 2013 Victoria High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in the Department of Informatics and an $800 Hays City Silver Academic Award. Lang is the son of Allen and Christine Lang, Victoria. He plans to major in informatics.

Ellis

Rebecca Aschenbrenner, a 2013 Ellis High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Copper Academic Award. Aschenbrenner is the daughter of Roy and Holly Aschenbrenner, Ellis.

Ryan Downing, a 2013 Ellis High School graduate, was awarded a $700 Fort Hays Bronze Academic Award and a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in allied health. Downing is the son of Mike and Jane Downing, Ellis. He plans to major in medical diagnostic imaging.

Alicia Kroeger, a 2013 Ellis High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Copper Academic Award. Kroeger is the daughter of Jeff and Paulette Kroeger, Ellis.

Cole Pfeifer, a 2013 Ellis High School graduate, was awarded a $500 Copper Academic Award. Pfeifer is the son of Jim and Linda Pfeifer, Ellis. He plans to major in biology.

Brayden Werth, a 2013 Ellis High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in agriculture and a $500 Copper Academic Award. Werth is the son of Rodney and Cristi Werth, Ellis. He plans to major in agribusiness.

Gage Younger, a 2013 Ellis High School graduate, was awarded a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship and a $500 Copper Academic Award. Younger is the son of Donnie and Wanda Younger, Ellis. He plans to major in business education.
