Local students accept scholarships to FHSU

HAYS -- Several local students accepted scholarships from Fort Hays State University for the 2012-13 academic year at a recent Student Recognition Program.

Raegan Vanderplas, a 2012 Phillipsburg High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in teacher education. Vanderplas is the daughter of Jeff and Kelly Vanderplas, Phillipsburg. She plans to major in elementary education.

Tia Brunswig, a 2012 Trego Community High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in psychology. Brunswig is the daughter of Bryan and Trish Brunswig, WaKeeney. She plans to major in psychology.

Brianna Haselhorst, a 2012 Thomas-More Prep-Marian High School graduate, accepted a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in art and design. Haselhorst is the daughter of Dean and Julie Haselhorst, Hays. She plans to major in art.

Shante Korbe, a 2012 Hays High School graduate, accepted a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in psychology and a $500 Copper Academic Award. Korbe is the daughter of Mel and Simone Korbe, Hays. She plans to major in psychology.
