FHSU names 2013-14 ambassadors

Local students are among the 26 selected to serve as official Fort Hays State University representatives -- Anderson VIP Student Ambassadors -- for the 2013-14 academic year at Fort Hays State University.

Anderson Ambassadors serve at a variety of special events, including homecoming, athletic activities, presidential dinners and other gatherings. Students must be full-time undergraduate students with a minimum 2.5 grade-point average and able to assist with nine to 10 events per year.

Ambassadors, with classifications, majors and high schools, are listed by hometown.

* Colby: Jordan Krzycki, a senior majoring in psychology, is a Colby High School graduate. She is a retuning VIP. Anna Taylor, a junior majoring in elementary education, is a Colby High School graduate. Taylor Young, a senior majoring in finance, is a Colby High School graduate. She is a retuning VIP.

* Ellis: William A. Poland II, a senior majoring in animal science, is an Ellis High School graduate.

* Gaylord: Michaela Sasse, a sophomore majoring in speech-language pathology, is a Smith Center High School graduate.

* Hays: Derek Kandt, a senior majoring in political science, is a Hays High School graduate. Kalee Kirmer, a senior majoring in biology, is a Thomas More Prep-Marian High School graduate. She is a retuning VIP.

* St. Francis: Matthew Whitmore, a senior majoring in finance, is a St. Francis High School graduate.
